Bus runs off icy road in Turkey; nine people killed

SIVAS, Turkey, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- At least nine people died Monday after a bus slid off an icy road and rolled into a ditch in the central Turkish province of Sivas, Today's Zaman reported.

The bus was carrying 42 people and some of them were trapped underneath the vehicle, the newspaper said.

Teams from the Sivas Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management agency removed people from the bus and a crane was used to lift the vehicle, the report said.

The injured were taken to several hospitals, the Andalou Agency reported.
