Man accused of ordering deaths of women sex slaves executed in China

BEIJING, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- A 36-year-old man, convicted in the deaths of two of six women he had kept as sex slaves in a dungeon in central China, was executed Tuesday, a court said.

Li Hao, a clerk in a provincial technology division who had been convicted of various charges including murder in the deaths of two of the six women, rape, illegal detention and making pornography for profit, was executed Tuesday in Zhengzhou, capital of north central China's Henan province, Xinhua News Agency reported.

The murder conviction against Li, a married man with an eight-month-old son, stemmed from his instructions to three of his captives to kill two of the other three women, the report said.

His death sentence, handed down in November by an intermediate court, was upheld by the country's supreme people's court during the appeal process, the report said.

Court records said Li himself had dug the dungeon under a basement of a home he had purchased in Luoyang in August 2009. He was accused of luring each of the six women into coming to his home, where he then held them from two to 21 months in 2011.

Police said the women had worked at karaoke bars, hair salons and a massage shop before being lured by Li.

The report said Li repeatedly raped the women, forced them to appear in obscene online shows and also forced them to have sex with other men.

The dungeon was discovered when one of the women escaped and went to police.

Xinhua said the three women, accused of killing two of the other sex slaves on Li's orders, were also found guilty of murder but were shown leniency. One was sentenced to three years in prison, while the other two were placed probation.
