TEMPIO PAUSANIA, Italy, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Italian authorities said Thursday they are investigating six people in connection with a bridge collapse that killed three people in November, officials said.

The suspects, all of whom have technical posts, may be charged with manslaughter and failure to prevent injury and damage for the collapse, Italy's ANSA news agency reported.

The Mone Pinu bridge on the north end of Sardinia island collapsed Nov. 18 during torrential rains. The heavy rainfall and resulting floods killed 16 people on the island and displaced thousands of others.
