6.5-magnitude earthquake off Puerto Rico's northern coast

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- There was no threat of a tsunami Sunday after a 6.5-magnitude earthquake hit off the north coast of Puerto Rico, the National Weather Service in Miami said.

The temblor hit just after midnight about 60 miles northwest of San Juan, Puerto Rico, at a depth of 17.7 miles the U.S. Geological Survey said.
