One dead after technical error causes power plant explosion in Egypt

TALKHA, Egypt, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- An explosion in a power plant in Talkha, Egypt, killed one person and injured dozens more, workers said.

The explosion took place while one of the worker's was cleaning the unit's compressor, al-Masry al-Youm reported.

A technical error occurred and caused the explosion.

The facility has been out of service since the beginning of January for maintenance, workers said.
