CAIRO, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- The trial of ousted Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, charged with inciting murder, was postponed because Morsi was absent due to bad weather, officials said.

The trial in Cairo was rescheduled for Feb. 1.

Alexandria Security Chief Nasser El-Abd said dense fog Wednesday grounded the helicopter that was to bring Morsi to trial from the Alexandria prison where the former president was incarcerated, al-Ahram reported.

Morsi and 14 other defendants face charges of inciting murder stemming from a violent and deadly summer that included the ouster of Morsi, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, and the arrest of many of the now-banned Brotherhood's leadership.
