Truck bomb kills three people, injures 57 in Kirkuk

KIRKUK, Iraq, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Three people were killed and 57 others injured Tuesday in a truck bomb explosion that targeted police in Kirkuk in northern Iraq, police said.

Police said a suicide bomber rammed his explosives-filled truck into the entrance of a police station in central area of Kirkuk, China's state-run Xinhua News Agency reported.

"The latest reports said that two policemen and a civilian were killed and 57 people, including 14 children, were wounded by the suicide truck bombing in Kirkuk," local police said.

The blast destroyed portions of the police station, and either damaged or destroyed several nearby buildings and vehicles on the street, officials said.
