Jan. 6, 2014 at 12:18 PM

BEBA, Egypt, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- A tour bus crash in central Egypt's Beni Suef governorate left eight people dead, including one Syrian, and 24 others injured, authorities said.

The bus was heading from Cairo to Minya when it crashed into a parked pickup truck near Beba, al-Masry al-Youm reported Monday.

Police said speed and fog in the area were factors in the crash.

The injured were transferred to the Beni Suef General Hospital where Gov. Magdy al-Betity visited them. He vowed to provide them with the support they need.
