Another statue of Lenin toppled in Ukraine

KIEV, Ukraine, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- A statue of Russian revolutionary leader Vladimir Lenin was toppled in southern Ukraine in what police Saturday said was an ongoing wave of vandalism.

Police in Andreyevo-Ivanovo, a village in the Odessa region, said the statue split into two pieces when it was knocked to the ground Friday by vandals, RIA Novosti reported.

Several statues of Lenin across Ukraine have been vandalized since early December amid protests against the Ukrainian government's decision not to sign political and free-trade agreements with the European Union and choosing to strengthen ties with Russia.
