BUSAN, South Korea, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- A cargo ship collided with a chemical-carrying tanker ship Sunday off South Korea's coast, leading to a fire and the rescue of all 91 crewmen, officials said.
The 55,000-ton freighter was on a test run when it collided with a ship carrying nearly 30,000 tons of flammable chemicals off the coast of the southeastern Korean city of Busan early Sunday, the Yonhap News Agency reported.
The impact left holes in two of the 20 containers aboard the tanker and caused a fire, the report said. Some crew members sustained burns but there were no serious injuries, officials said, adding coast guard and navy boats and helicopters were sent to the scene and rescued the 27 crew members of the tanker.
The freighter, with 64 crew members aboard, also sustained a fire that was quickly extinguished. The ship was towed to a shipyard near the scene of the collision, Yonhap reported.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
