JAKARTA, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- A restaurant manager in Bali, Indonesia, has been killed by a python, say a doctor and officials at a nearby luxury hotel.

A doctor said the body of man brought to a Bali hospital Friday appeared to have been suffocated by a large snake, CNN reported.

Jamie Zimmerman Rothfeld, a spokesman for the Bali Hyatt, said the attack took place "on the roadway outside the hotel's property" and was witnessed by a hotel security guard.

Rothfeld said the hotel was closed until 2015 for renovation.
