KAMLOOPS, British Columbia, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Authorities said they were searching for three skiers missing at the Sun Peaks ski resort in British Columbia.

The skiers -- two sisters, ages 17 and 23, likely from nearby Kamloops, and a woman in her 40s from Washington state -- went out of bounds at the ski resort Friday, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.

Rescuers searched for the women Friday, but lost communication with the younger two due to low battery power on their cellphones. The other woman was in contact with rescuers, but they were unable to use her phone to get her location because she has a U.S. service provider.

There was no word Saturday on the progress of the search.
