SANAA, Yemen, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- A senior Japanese diplomat in Yemen was taken to a hospital Sunday after he survived being stabbed during a kidnapping attempt, police said.
The diplomat, whose name wasn't reported, was near the Japanese Embassy in Sanaa when he was stabbed while trying to resist a kidnapping attempt, police sources told Chinese news agency Xinhua.

The diplomat managed to drive his car into the embassy, and he was transported to a hospital in stable condition, a medical source told Xinhua.
