Tutu's home burglarized during Mandela funeral

CAPE TOWN, South Africa, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Archbishop Desmond Tutu's home in Cape Town was burglarized Tuesday while he was attending Nelson Mandela's funeral, police said.

The burglary was reported between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. and is the second time Tutu's house has been targeted, the British newspaper the Independent reported.

Police said they have not made any arrests and declined to say what was stolen, eNCA reported. Tutu media liaison Roger Friedman confirmed the incident.

"At this stage, we cannot give further details, as the investigation into the matter is still ongoing. No arrests have been made as yet," officers said.

Tutu, a fellow former Nobel Peace Prize laureate and friend of Mandela's, spoke at the former South African president's memorial service in Johannesburg where world leaders and supporters gathered to pay respects to the revered civil rights leader who died Thursday at age 95.
