FRANKFURT, Germany, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- At least one person is dead and five others injured following a crane collapse Wednesday at a grocery store in a suburb of Frankfurt, Germany, officials say.

A fire department spokesman said a crane at a neighboring construction site fell onto an Aldi Sud supermarket in Bad Homburg, causing the roof to collapse, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Two of the injured, including the crane operator, were critically hurt, spokesman Norbert Fischer said.

Fischer estimated it would take six hours to remove the wreckage of the crane.

A Bad Homburg city spokeswoman said the accident occurred during the busy lunchtime rush.
