Landslide kills 10, injures 21 in northwest China

LONGNAN, China, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- A landslide in northwest China's Gansu province killed 10 people and injured 21 others, local officials said Thursday.

The landslide happened at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the city of Longnan, China's state-run Xinhua News Agency reported.

Several pre-fabricated houses for workers digging a tunnel for the Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway were buried by the landslide, provincial work safety authority said.

The injured were taken to a local hospital where three were in serious condition.
