JINOTEGA, Nicaragua, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- A shootout between police and a gang that allegedly tried to rob a store in Jinotega, Nicaragua, left 10 people dead, police said.
The shootout took place at 1 p.m., local time, Wednesday after the armed gang allegedly attempted to rob a general store in northern Jinotega, the police report said.

Police confronted the gang and six of the gang members and four police officers were killed in the ensuing gun fight, online newspaper the Nicaragua Dispatch reported Thursday.
Police arrested reputed gang member Marlon Guevara, the newspaper said.
