MOSCOW, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- A counterfeiting ring in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Dagestan was broken up and four suspects were arrested, police said Wednesday.
Fake currency totaling more than 2 billion rubles ($60.1 million) was seized from an apartment, all in 5,000-ruble ($150) notes, a police statement said, adding officials pinpointed five attempts to put the money into circulation since beginning their investigation earlier this year.
