VATICAN CITY, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu presented Pope Francis a book written by his father during a 25-minute meeting at the Vatican Monday, officials said.
Inside the book, written by Benzion Netanyahu about the Spanish Inquisition, the prime minister had written, "To His Holiness Pope Francis, the great guardian of our common heritage," the Italian news agency ANSA reported.
The spiritual leader of the world's Roman Catholics presented Netanyahu with a bronze plaque depicting St. Paul.
During the meeting, the Vatican said in a statement, the men talked about the peace talks that have resumed between Israel and the Palestinians.
The pontiff is planning a visit next year to Israel and Jordan.
Netanyahu arrived in Rome Sunday for a two-day visit.
