PARIS, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- France said it will replace its ambassador to the Central African Republic, Serge Mucetti, who was appointed by former President Nicolas Sarkozy in 2012.

The French foreign ministry made the announcement shortly after France deployed troops to the Central African Republic for a possible military intervention backed by the United Nations, Radio France Internationale reported.

Mucetti's successor has not yet been named and no official reason for his dismissal was given.
