Hazelmary and Peter Bull say they believe any sexual relationship outside of marriage is a sin -- with marriage defined only as between a man and a woman, the BBC reported. The Supreme Court upheld lower court decisions ordering them to pay damages to Steven Preddy and Martyn Hall,
who were turned away from Chymorvah House in Marazion in 2008.
"We are just ordinary Christians who believe in the importance of marriage as the union of one man and one woman," Hazelmary Bull said. "Our B&B is not just our business, it's our home. All we have ever tried to do is live according to our own values, under our own roof."
Hall and Preddy, who are in a civil partnership and live in Bristol, won 3,600 pounds (about $5,500) in damages in 2011. The Court of Appeal upheld the verdict in 2012.
The Bulls argued the European Court of Human Rights has guaranteed their right to act according to their religious beliefs.
