Nigerian army pursuing fleeing terrorists after offensive kills 20

GWOZA, Nigeria, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Nigerian Army officials said that a gun battle between soldiers and insurgents killed at least 20 Boko Haram terrorists and one soldier.

The army launched the offensive Friday in Gwoza, where the terrorists had been attacking villagers, the Leadership Newspaper reported.

Three other soldiers were wounded in the battle, a statement from Lt. Col. Muhammad Dole said.

Dozens of vehicles and 50 motorcycles were destroyed.

Dole said that troops and the Nigerian Air Force were pursuing the terrorists who fled.
