LONDON, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- A private detective working for the London tabloid News of the World had a "target evaluation" list that included Kate Middleton, a jury heard Tuesday.
The list was seized from Glenn Mulcaire in 2006, The Guardian reported. At the time, Middleton, now Prince William's wife and duchess of Cambridge, was his girlfriend.
Two former editors of the News of the World, which closed in the wake of the phone-hacking scandal, are on trial in the Old Bailey. Rebekah Brooks, who went on to be an executive with Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., and Andy Coulson, who served as spokesman for Prime Minister David Cameron, were two of the most prominent figures in British journalism.
The handwritten list, presented to the jury with the label "target evaluation," had 18 names, The Guardian said. They included people with ties to the royal family, such as Tom Parker Bowles, son of Camilla, duchess of Cornwall, by her first marriage, Helen Asprey, now private secretary to Prince Harry, and Jamie Lowther Pinkerton, who was once Prince William's secretary.
Others included Boris Johnson, now mayor of London, Delia Smith, a celebrity chef and co-owner of the soccer club in Norwich, England, and Eunice Huthart, who was a stunt double for Angelina Jolie in the movie "Mr. and Mrs. Smith."
The list came up during testimony about the alleged hacking of phones used by Smith and Huthart.
