Key meeting of Chinese party officials to plan 'deepening reforms'

BEIJING, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Reform of China's economic, political and social sectors once again tops the agenda of a key meeting of the Chinese Communist party, officials say.

The four-day Third Plenary Session of the party's central committee will concentrate on "major issues concerning comprehensively deepening reforms," China's official Xinhua News Agency said Saturday.

The reforms aim to be more systematic and coordinated.

"We should let labor, knowledge, technology, management and capital unleash their dynamism, let all sources of wealth spread and let all people enjoy more fruits of development fairly," the central committee said in a statement Oct. 29.

Since the first meeting in 1978, all Third Plenary Sessions have been focused on reform and "opening up," Xinhua said.

Reforms coming from this session will be "broad, with major strength and unprecedented," pledged Yu Zhengsheng, a Standing Committee member of the Central Committee's political bureau.
