A witness, Liu Guoliang, told the news agency he heard a loud bang and saw heavy smoke and flames as he was driving nearby.

Xinhua said the explosions were suspected to have been caused by homemade bombs because steel beads littered the scene.

Police had cordoned off the area while they investigated, the news agency said.
