RIBERALTA, Bolivia, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- An Aerocon airline passenger plane crashed in flames in Riberalta, Bolivia, Sunday, killing eight people and injuring nine others, authorities said.

Three officials of the Governorate of Beni were among the people killed in the 4 p.m. crash, former Gov. Ernesto Suarez told the La Paz newspaper La Razon.

The accident occurred while the aircraft was attempting to land, the newspaper said.

Riberalta hospital director Jaime Claros said two of the injured were in serious condition.

It was raining and visibility was poor but the cause of the crash had yet to be determined, La Razon said.
