MURMANSK, Russia, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- A Russian woman was arrested after she allegedly stabbed her friend and two kids over the way the children were treating the suspect's puppies, police said.

The alleged victim and her two children were visiting the suspect in the northern Russian city of Murmansk when the incident happened, RIA Novosti reported.

"After drinking liquor together, a quarrel broke out among the two women, according to preliminary information, over how the children were treating the hostess' pedigree puppies," regional police said in a statement issued Saturday.

The suspect allegedly stabbed her friend in the stomach and chest, police said. The friend's daughters also sustained stab wounds, the statement said.

The victims were transported to a local hospital while the suspect was arrested, police said.
