Mayor Ayse Gokkan, along with a group of supporters, began the hunger strike Thursday, Hurriyet Daily News reported.
Construction began about a month ago on the 1.5-mile wall, intended to prevent illegal crossings and smuggling.
Gokkan was briefly hospitalized Friday after feeling unwell, but continued her hunger strike despite the medical intervention.
