11 killed, 17 injured in China fireworks factory blast

CENXI, China, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- An explosion in a fireworks factory in southwestern China Friday afternoon killed 11 people and injured 17 others, local authorities said.

The 4 p.m. blast occurred in Cenxi City, located in China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, Xinhua News Agency reported.

Local authorities said Saturday the factory's manager and legal representative were taken into custody by police while the incident was being investigated, the state-run news service said.
