Train strikes bus in Kenya, 10 dead

NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Ten people died Wednesday when a train struck a minibus in Nairobi, Kenya, a railway official said.

The minibus, called a matatu, was crossing the train tracks when the train approached and struck it, the Standard Digital News reported.

Three people died instantly.

"Among the dead are five men and five women with 21 critically injured transferred to Mama Lucy Hospital," said railway commandant Kirimi Ringera.

A witness said the matatu was dragged nearly 1,640 feet away from the accident scene by the train.
