Bomb in Egypt kills soldier as attacks on security forces increase

RAFAH, Egypt, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- A bomb killed five soldiers in Rafah, Egypt, Tuesday morning, security sources said.

The explosive device, which was detonated where soldiers are deployed, killed one officer and injured four conscripts, MENA, the official government news agency reported.

The injured were transported to a hospital, a security source told MENA.

Militant attacks targeting security forces have increased since the ousting of former president Mohamed Morsi.

The bombing comes after an attack last week, in which unknown gunmen killed a 31-year-old policeman, MENA said.
