Neil McArdle, 36, of Liverpool was sentenced to 12 months in jail by Judge Norman Wright, the BBC reported Tuesday. McArdle called in a hoax bomb threat to St. George's Hall in April on the day of his intended wedding to Amy Williams because he discovered he had not properly booked the venue and he did not want Williams to find out.
McArdle was arrested the day of the hoax call when police traced it to a payphone near his home. He admitted the act to police.
Wright said the case was "extremely serious" and jail was the appropriate sentence.
