Snow traps 86 people at Mount Everest base camp; no injuries reported

LHASA, Tibet, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Heavy snow in the Lhasa, Tibet, region trapped 86 people at a Mount Everest base camp, authorities said. No injuries were reported.

The tourists were about to hike downhill after sightseeing at the camp about 17,060 feet above sea level, the Xigaze prefecture publicity department said.

Rescuers were prepared to clear the base camp, Xinhua reported.
