Morsi, seven senior leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamist leaders are accused of killing and torturing protesters who demonstrated outside the presidential palace in Cairo.
Their trial is scheduled for Nov. 4.
Morsi, 62, has been held at a secret location since his ouster July 3 after demonstrations against his rule. He also faces charges related to his escape from prison during the 2011 revolution that toppled his predecessor, Hosni Mubarak.
On July 26, he was detained for 15 days of the prison escape charges, which he allegedly planned in collaboration with Palestinian Islamist group Hamas and Lebanese Shia group Hezbollah, Ahram Online reported.
