KHAI XUAN, Vietnam, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- An explosion at a fireworks warehouse in northern Vietnam left 24 people dead and 97 others injured, authorities said.
The explosion happened Saturday morning at the warehouse Phu Tho province, Tuoi Tre News reported.

A resulting fire was put out just after noon Saturday, at which point emergency responders put the death toll at 24 people.
The explosion also caused damage to the warehouse, several outbuildings, and nearby houses, authorities said.
An initial investigation of the incident found that the explosion was caused by a technical incident that occurred in the warehouse, Lt. Gen. Le Thanh Bin said in a report on the incident without elaborating.
