Woman dead after being gored by bull at Spanish festival

FEREZ, Spain, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- A woman in Ferez, Spain, was gored in the abdomen by a bull and died, Mayor Begona Ruiz said.

The woman had traveled from Benidorm to Ferez to visit family and attend the festival Sunday, Ruiz said.

The woman was one of four people gored by a charging bull while they were inside the enclosure setup for bull-running, ThinkSpain reported Monday.

The bull left an open wound in the woman's stomach and she died en route to Hellin General Hospital, the newspaper said.

The woman's daughter was gored in the shoulder and taken to the hospital for treatment. A man was gored in the armpit and a fourth person suffered minor injuries but didn't need immediate treatment, the newspaper said.
