Explosive powder contained in package sent to Italian newspaper

TURIN, Italy, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Turin, Italy, newspaper La Stampa received a package containing explosive powder and video footage of people protesting a high-speed rail link, police said.

Investigators said the powder could have exploded if it was connected to a detonator.

The protesters are campaigning against the rail link being built north of the city, ANSA reported Friday.

Receipt of the package followed violent incidents associated with building of the rail link, police said.
