TAISHAN, China, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Rescuers were searching Wednesday for 58 fishermen still missing two days after Typhoon Wutip sank three fishing boats near the Xisha Islands, officials said.

Fourteen survivors were rescued Monday, though two have since died, bringing the death toll up to four from the incident, Chinese news agency Xinhua reported.

The 12 survivors were being temporarily sheltered on nearby Yongqing Island off the coast of Hainan.

The boats that sank when caught in Typhoon Wutip were from Guangdong province in southern China.
