TIKRIT, Iraq, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Three policemen died and eight were injured Tuesday when a suicide bomb exploded at the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department in Tikrit, Iraq, officials said.

"The suicide bombing that targeted the EOD department in Tikrit resulted in killing three policemen and injuring eight others," a security source, whose name wasn't reported, told IraqiNews.com.

Gunmen and security forces clashed as part of the attack, the source added.

"Security forces cordoned off the explosion site and started a raid [and] search operation to look for other terrorists," the source said.
