BEIJING, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- China's National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center has issued a yellow wave warning for the South China Sea as Typhoon Wutip approaches.

Wutip, the 21st storm of typhoon season, is expected to make landfall over Vietnam Tuesday, China's official Xinhua News Agency reported.

The forecasting center issued the yellow wave alert Saturday, warning waves as high as 30 feet may occur in the South China Sea and waves of about 10 feet may occur on eastern coastal areas of China's Hainan province.

The center advised coastal authorities to take precautionary measures as tourism is expected to increase in Hainan during the National Day holiday, which starts Tuesday.
