Man attacks doctor, nurses over beard surgery

CHANGSHA, China, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Chinese police said they are searching for a man who attacked a doctor and several nurses following a dispute over plastic surgery.

The man, about 20, was at the Affiliated Hospital of Hunan Academy of Chinese Medicine in central Hunan province Monday when he became angry with his doctor, who had performed a beard implant surgery four months prior, the state-run Xinhua News Agency said.

The man became irate because he thought the surgery had been a failure and pointed to a red mark on his upper lip. The doctor told the suspect the red mark was merely some inflammation and the surgery would take at least two months more to show results.

When the doctor left the examining room to check on other patients the man left the examining room and attacked the doctor and three nurses, one pregnant, with a knife before fleeing the hospital. None of the injuries was life-threatening, police said.
