MOSCOW, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- It looks like quarterback Tim Tebow won't be taking his talents to Red Square, the owner of a Russian football club said Saturday.

Mikhail Zaltsman told Russia's R-Sport he offered the Heisman Trophy winner $1 million to play in two games with his Moscow Black Storm squad but Tebow declined the offer.

"Unfortunately agents of Tim Tebow turned down our proposal," Zaltsman said. "I hope that it's Tebow's agents' fault that the contract wasn't signed and Tim couldn't do anything about it."

Zaltsman said the Black Storm, part of the 18-team semi-pro American Football Championship of Russia league, would carry on without the potential star power from the United States, Russian state agency RIA Novosti reported.

"In this case we don't want him in our team anyway," Zaltsman said. "We are looking for the people who pursue their dreams, not the ones who talk about it."

There was no immediate comment from Tebow's representatives.

Tebow has been trying to catch on with an NFL team since being released by the New England Patriots this summer. Tebow has said publicly he wants another shot at making an NFL team as a quarterback and has so far rejected the idea of playing another position, or in another country.

Tebow was a sensation with the Denver Broncos in 2011, his second year in the NFL, but was then traded to the New York Jets, who released him after one season.
