The suspect allegedly lured the soldier to a field and killed him in an apparent plot to use the body as a bargaining chip to win the release of the suspect's brother from an Israeli prison.
The soldier, whose name was not released, was reported missing Friday, triggering an intensive search of the area around the town of Shaare Tikva. It was not clear whether the suspect, Nidal Amir, had led Israeli investigators to the body or if the remains were discovered before Nidal was arrested.
Ynetnews said Nidal and the victim apparently worked together at a restaurant in Bat Yam. Nidal allegedly convinced his victim to share a taxi ride to nearby Shaare Tikva.
After they arrived in the village, Nidal allegedly forced the soldier into a field where he killed him and hid the body in a well.
