Spain: Trains collide at Barcelona's Sants Station, 22 injured

BARCELONA, Spain, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- A collision of two commuter trains at the Sants Station in Barcelona, Spain, Friday morning injured at least 22 people, the Spanish rail company Renfe said.

A moving train struck a stationary train, the Barcelona newspaper La Vanguardia reported.

Most of the injured suffered whiplash and bruises, the Directorate General of Civil Protection said, noting only one passenger, who fell to the floor was hospitalized.

The accident snarled rail traffic in the city, as well as street traffic, with ambulances rushing to the scene, the newspaper said. Rail technicians removed the wrecked train cars.
