Siberian group wants local officials to ban psychics

MOSCOW, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- A group of parents in western Siberia say they have asked local officials to ban two psychics who plan to be in the region later this month.

The Tyumen Parental Committee have told prosecutors the men, Veet Mano and Mohsen Norouzi, could somehow harm residents who visit them, RIA Novosti reported Thursday.

Mano, a U.S. citizen, and Norouzi, from Iran, became known in Russia after taking part in a Russian reality show in which people claiming to be psychics compete.

The men have announced they will be in the region for private consultations.

The committee noted the Russian Orthodox church also opposes psychic activities. The group proposed a bill to ban psychics and sects in the region.
