BEIJING, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- China's cruise liner Henna, detained in South Korea since last week, sailed home Wednesday with its remaining passengers, state media said.
The ship left South Korea's Jeju Island, where it was detained over a legal issue, with the last group of 85 people aboard, bound for Tianjin city in China, cntv.cn reported.
With Henna's departure, all the 1,659 passengers aboard have been allowed to return home, the report said. Many of the passengers had earlier been flown home on chartered flights.
Hainan Airlines Tourism, the operator of the cruise liner, paid a deposit of $2.8 million to a South Korean for the release of the ship, the report said.
It quoted the operator of the cruise liner that every passenger has been offered about 2,000 yuan ($326) in compensation or a free cruise ticket on the Henna. The ship was detained on the order of a Jeju court, which received a seizure application by Jiangsu Shagang Group due to a contract dispute between it and Hainan Airlines Tourism, the report said.
