The latest hostility between the groups started Thursday in the Tudun Adabu village of the Obi local government area, Nasarawa state, and later spread to Assakio in Lafia local government, the Nigerian Tribune reported.
Zonal Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Alhaji Yusuf Ayitogo and Osuko of Obi Alhaji Dangiwa Ogiri Orume lost their homes and cars in the clashes.
Local Abari Isa told the Nigerian Tribune that a number of people were killed during the violence.
"They were more than one thousand because we have heard that they were coming and everybody was trying to pack his or her belongings. But as we are moving out they have stationed themselves in strategic locations and even inside the bush, so the casualty was very high. If not by the grace of God because I did my marriage just seven days, so I quickly relocated by wife, if not, they would have killed us," Isa said.
