Tunisians dissatisfied with political leaders, systems

TUNIS, Tunisia, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Two years after Tunisia's Arab Spring uprisings, most Tunisians are unhappy with their political leaders and institutions, a Pew Research Center poll found.

The survey found 44 percent of Tunisians view interim President Moncef Marzouki favorably and 37 percent have a favorable view of President of the Constituent Assembly, and Ettakatol party leader, Mustapha Ben Jaafar.

Just 20 percent of Tunisians have a favorable view of the Constituent Assembly and 42 percent view the court system favorably, the poll found.

Seventy-two percent of respondents said they were dissatisfied with democracy in Tunisia, while 24 percent said they were somewhat or very satisfied.

Most respondents -- 56 percent -- said they would like to see political stability, even if the process is not fully democratic.

Pew interviewed 1,000 people March 4-19. The poll has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
