The plane, an Airbus A330-200 carrying 200 passengers, made an emergency landing Monday near Fortaleza on Brazil's northeastern coast, ThinkSpain reported Tuesday.
Officials from the TAM airline said severe turbulence rocked the aircraft when it crossed over Equator.
The airline said it apologized to the passengers and arranged for a flight to Sao Paulo for those not injured.
