The trains collided at the Clarkson, Western Australia, train station, as a moving train crashed into a stationary passenger train. The low-speed accident injured six passengers, the news website PerthNow reported.
The millipedes were spotted by the hundreds on the tracks, and are being investigated as a possible cause of the accident.
Drivers had been previously warned of the millipedes' presence, which can cause train tracks to become slippery when they are crushed by the wheels of the train, PerthNow said.
